This one hour course is unsurpassed if you are interested in becoming an accomplished skydiver in the least amount of time, or if you simply want to "experience it all" on one jump. Harnessed together with your instructor, a tandem jump starts from 10,500 - 14,000 feet. After a 40 to 60 second freefall or more, depending on exit altitude, you pull the ripcord and deploy the canopy at 5,000 feet and begin a tranquil five to seven minute descent.

Your Instructor can solely control the jump, or give you hands-on freefall and canopy instruction. After landing you will receive a First Jump Certificate, progression sheet for learning more, and an option to pass to the next learning level. The Tandem Program can be completed in two jumps, at which time you can transition to Accelerated Freefall Ground School and start at AFF Level II.

Without a doubt, Tandem incorporates an instructional model of having someone highly experienced with you on your first few skydives, the same basic philosophy when learning to fly an airplane in having a Certified Flight Instructor with you. Skydive Virginia believes so much in this method of embarking upon learning to skydive that there is an added financial value to you: if your first two skydives with us are Tandem and you decide to pursue instruction through to graduation jump 25, it is free (a $80 savings). In essence you can graduate from this program, have one more jump in your logbook, and still spend less money as opposed to, if it were available, a first jump via Accelerated Freefall.

We feel this is definitely the most cost effective (and fun!) way to learn to skydive.
